America.com, diamantes.com fail to make reserve

The domain name America.com, up for auction last week on Sedo, failed to reach its reserve price. The highest bid was US$1.71 million. It had been hoped the domain name would reach a price of between $3.5 million and $7 million. Other premium domain names that were up for grabs last week on Sedo included diamantes.com and cognac.com. Cognac.com sold for $88,000 while diamantes.com, like America.com, is still available for potential buyers to make an offer.

Comcast Domain Name Record Altereded by Hackers

Hackers knocked Comcast.net offline late Wednesday night, preventing customers from getting to their Comcast Web mail and account records on the company's Internet portal reports IDG.

UK Domain Name Price Increase Attracts Phishing Scammers

According to sales figures provided by Sedo.com, the average price for a .co.uk domain has risen by 22% over the past three years, while the average price of a .com domain has fallen by 18 % over the same period of time. The average price for a .co.uk domain sold at auction via Sedo's online marketplace now averages about £2,614 while the more generic .com domains average is only £1,372...

New .au policies allowing domain transfers commence

auDA have introduced new policies that allow for registrants to buy and sell .au domain names subject to certain conditions. The changes, introduced on June 1, are sensible and mean that some domain names currently registered, and not being productively used, can be sold and transferred to a registrant who may have better use for the domain name.

Fraudulent emails "Registro italiano in Internet per le imprese "

Important information - a number of users have received letters from another entity, the so-called "Registro italiano in Internet per le imprese", which, through surface-mail mailings, (seemingly to ask the verifications of the data dealing with user activities) proposes a contract to adhere to in order to receive a service after payment. The Institute of Informatics and Telematics of the CNR and the ccTLD .it Registry are not in the least involved with this initiative and have prepared again the necessary actions to protect any rights that might have been infringed. The Italian Competition Authorities (http://www.agcm.it) has repeatedly issued fines - for analogous initiatives as case in point of misleading messages - against DAD Deutscher Adressdienst.

.ME Domain Landrush applications starting on the 6th June

The Landrush period for the application of .ME domain names starts officially on the 6th June. Submit your Landrush applications now until the 26th of June (price: 48€/year, minimum 2 years) through the EuroDNS website. The registry has created a list of names which are not possible to submit: the Premium names (http://www.domen.me/cms/site_files/dotME_Premium_Names.txt) and the reserved names (http://www.domen.me/cms/site_files/dotME_Reserved_Names.txt). All other names can be submitted and domains that get more than one application will go into auction process. All names that only get one application will be automatically assigned to the applicant.
